Around Christmas I decided to try to write one poem or prose poem per day. ‘Verset for the Day’ is meant to be an original phrase to distinguish the endeavour from the many ‘Poem of the Day’ pages that already exist. The word ‘verset’ has been used in several senses, but I’m using it simply to refer to ‘A little or short verse’ (OED). Little or short, and also occasional, which is quite a liberating way to write. I’ve been posting them as notes formatted as code, because that’s the only way to insert a line break without a space. I quite like the typewriter effect. Here’s a selection from the third fifty.
